| Google Insights: Levon Helm's death and Pottermore's opening spur searches Apr 23rd 2012, 13:24 AFP Relax News – 3 hrs ago American rock multi-instrumentalist Levon Helm, who lost his battle with cancer on April 19, was top of Google search terms over the past week, seeing an increase in searches of over 5,000 percent. Levon Helm was perhaps best known for his role in The Band (1964- 1976/1983-1999) and for his solo work, including the albums Dirt Farmer, which won a Grammy Award in 2008; in 2010 his album Electric Dirt won the first-ever Grammy in the Best Americana Album category. After a long battle with cancer Levon Helm died at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York on April 19. Fans of J.K. Rowling and the Harry Potter series of books were also driving up Google searches this week, looking for the term "Pottermore." The term refers to a website by J.K. Rowling which serves as an online base for all things Harry Potter. The site officially opened, after an eight month period of Beta testing, to fans on April 14. Spanish football club Real Madrid, who overcame rivals Barcelona 2-1 in the El Clasico match on April 21, were also a popular search term, with a growth of 160%. Online fantasy role playing game Diablo 3, which opened to Beta testers over the weekend, was also popular; the game is due to be released on May 15 in North America and Europe while players in Latin America and Russia have to wait until June 7. The search terms with the most significant growth worldwide in the last seven days, as measured by Google Insights and recorded April 23, were: 01. levon helm (Breakout*)
