Known as the Carnation Revolution or simply "25 de Abril," the date marks a non-violent revolution by the Portuguese people and elements of the military who took to the streets and began placing carnations in soldiers' guns and uniforms. The events of April 25 ultimately helped transform Portugal into a democracy. The day is celebrated as Freedom Day each year and is marked by a national holiday. Twitter users are also reacting to a fire on the roof of the "Süzer Plaza" Ritz Carlton hotel in Istanbul, while others are sharing their thoughts about the ongoing Leveson inquiry into the British press with the hashtag #Hunt, after Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt resigned on April 25 following revelations that he had allegedly given News Corp "special access" over a BSkyB bid. Fans of pop star Lady Gaga are also counting down the days to her tour, trending "BTW Ball AFTER TOMORROW"; the tour, known as the Born This Way Ball, opens in Seoul, South Korea, on April 27 and ends in Barcelona, Spain, on October 6.
