"Happy Persian New year to everyone!" say microbloggers celebrating the start of the Persian New Year, "I wish you all a happy, healthy and successful year."

The Persian New Year, which is also known as "Nowruz" (or "new day") in Farsi, marks the transition from winter to spring.

Australian rules football player "Jim Stynes" has lost his battle with cancer. Tweeps are using their 140 characters to pay tribute to the former Melbourne Football Club player saying, "RIP Jim Stynes. Champion Dad. Champion footballer. Champion for children. All round champion. Vale" and "If you want to contribute to Jim Stynes' legacy... Donate to the cause he started & help carry on his good work reach.org.au."  

Microbloggers are congratulating American actor Jared Padalecki and his wife on the birth of their son with the term "#WelcomePadababy."

"#iShouldHaveKnownBetter" is at the top of the chart and is followed by the terms "NCTC" (short for the National Counterterrorism Center) in fifth place and "Rajya Sabha," the name for the upper house of Parliament in India.

"#Boyfriend300thDay" is in third place, the name of Australian mining magnate "Clive Palmer" is in seventh place, the name of Lana Del Ray's single "Blue Jeans" is in ninth place and "Günaydın" the Turkish word for "good morning" is in tenth place.
