LOS ANGELES – A person familiar with the matter says search giant Google is one of about a dozen companies involved in talks to potentially buy online video site Hulu.
The person said presentations to sell the company have started, but it's too early to declare a leading bidder.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussions are confidential.
Hulu began to look for bidders early last week after an unsolicited offer prompted Hulu's board to look for other interested parties.
Hulu runs movies and shows from broadcasters ABC, Fox and NBC. The company is owned by the broadcasters' parents, The Walt Disney Co., News Corp., and Comcast Corp., along with Providence Equity Partners.
Google's interest was earlier reported by the Los Angeles Times.
